This video is from July 2012, and the players are Rufus, Emily and Milo. As you can see Emily wasn’t initially a barker but I do believe with the help of Milo, Emily found her bark. Emily was only about 7 months in the video. Enjoy dachshund friends.

Reds looking up

I love it when I catch our dachshunds looking up. The breed is notorious for keeping its head and nose close to the ground. I believe it was a squirrel or bird that caught Lily and Rufus’ attention this afternoon. Whether their noses are to the ground or up in the trees, dachshunds are hunters and I do enjoy watching them do what comes natural. How about you!? Do your dachshunds exhibit signs of their hunter ancestry?!

Springtime shenanigans

Some of the most popular (and common) pictures we find on the internet are dogs donning their humans’ sunglasses. Instead of trying my glasses on my dachshunds, I bought them a pair of their own. Rufus and Lily both were willing to play, but Emily wasn’t interested. I think Lily looks the best, but you be the judge. Who wears it better?! Lily or Rufus.

Spring is here

We celebrated the arrival of Spring with lots of outdoor fun yesterday which naturally included a hike. The top photo is spectacular, and when Emily jumped on the rock unexpectedly my heart stopped. Luckily I stayed calm, instructed her to get down and casually snapped a few while carefully keeping my eyes fixed on her. Emily is certainly showing more signs of fearlessness. Hope everyone is planning their own springtime fun.

Picture perfect

One of the main attractions at Surfers’ Point Beach is the estuary where both the Pacific Ocean and Ventura River meet. The calm water, mountains and lone Palm tree make for a fun backdrop as demonstrated by Rufus in today’s pictures. Today is technically the first day of spring friends so make it a great one. Be good to your dachshunds and to each other.
