New Year resolutions

We don’t generally make New Year’s resolutions, but we are using the start of a new year to renew our commitment to physical fitness. We started the first week of the new year with a hike. In previous years, our hikes were often sporadic. We will sometimes hike for a full month and then take a month off due to heat or other deterrent.  However, this year we – or at least me on the behalf of my pack, want to see if we can be a little more consistent with it throughout the whole year. We going to try to hike 3 to 4 days a week. We have been successful in the past for keeping up this routine for a month or two, but I’m curious to see if we can do it for a full 12. Keeping warm

By Southern California standards, it has been chilly these last several nights. In fact we have had to start a fire most evenings, and put our hot dogs in sweaters to keep them toasty and warm. Proof is in the pictures. Hope everyone else in country is keeping inside, protected from the cold and wet elements. Enjoy the photos dachshund friends.

Earlier today we met some friends and went for a lovely leisurely hike. The trail was dusty so naturally when we got home, it was bathtime. Everyone loves a clean wiener. Enjoy the photos friends and here’s to hoping you and yours had an equally wonderful day.

Merry Christmas 2014

Merry Christmas dachshund friends. We didn’t do a Christmas card this year because time got away from me and I just couldn’t get motivated, but… had we done one, it might have looked something very much like the top photo. Emily is an elf, Lily is Rudolph and Rufus is Santa Claus naturally.

Also as promised, below is a video of Rufus opening his presents. You’ll see my hands taking the toys away and distributing them to the pack and friends. Rufus is usually more concerned with opening the presents than playing with toys inside, wheresas the others are the complete opposite. Together they make a great team. We’re having a merry one, and hope you are as well.

For the next few weeks we’re hosting our wirehair friends Wes Henry and Griz. So our pack has temporarily grown to five. These two adorable ragamuffins look more like muppets to me than dachshunds, but no matter their appearance, their personalities are all hound. I love them dearly. Enjoy the photos friends.

Olga Rose is growing fast, and getting prettier every day. She’s a wirehair dachshund puppy, but her wirehair-ness has yet to come in. Nonetheless, her personality is all dachshund; she’s brave, curious and smart. She’s also very fast; she’s always moving and exploring. I had to wait for her to get tired before I was able to capture a good picture, but I think I managed to get a few. Enjoy the photos friends.
