I meet new dachshunds (online and in-person) nearly daily, and I love to make new friends. However, I do sincerely enjoy our old, dear, tried and true four-legged companions – especially those with whom I have an established bond and relationship. We have known Wes and Griz, the wirehair dachshunds, since they were young – probably about 6 years now. I have hosted them for play dates and sleepovers, and have photographed them more times than I can remember. At this point we’re all old pros. There’s no whining when they come to stay with me; they know the routine when it’s time to snap a few shots and we all just get along so very well. It’s good to have friends and we totally recommend it. It’s great for us, it’s fantastic for Wes and Griz’s humans to go away for a weekend worry free because they know they’re furkids are in good hands, and it’s great for our dachshunds’ continued socialization. If you don’t already do it, consider scheduling your own play date or sleepover. The best time to try it is when you have no plans so if something doesn’t work out, you’re available to come right back. Good luck dachshund friends and enjoy the photos. More to follow this weekend.
