Wow. The last entry about dachshunds suffering from squirrel attention deficit disorder (SADD) really resonated with many folks. I really enjoyed reading your comments on how some of your dachshunds suffer from BADD (bird), CADD (cat), LADD (lizard), and my favorite ATMS (Anything That Moves Syndrome). Our dachshunds are truly a unique breed of dog. They certainly keep us entertained; even if it’s just in our own backyards. Today we feature Lily learning how to hunt squirrels from her mentors: Rufus and Emily. Have a wonderful day dachshund friends.

Emily has SADD

At 2 and a half years old Emily has finally discovered squirrels. Like her pack mate Rufus, today she was obsessed. Emily now (like Rufus) suffers from Squirrel Attention Deficit Disorder (SADD). She watches those trees like a hawk. Does your dachshund have SADD!??

Hiking

The weather as of late has been pretty inviting in Southern California, and ideal hiking weather. Some days I’m less interested in hiking than others, but then I remember how much fun my little short-legged hounds have while being out and about. I tell myself I just have to muster the strength to do it. I do it for them and I do it for myself; we do it for our collective physical fitness, mental health and overall well being. Getting started can be hard some afternoons, but once we’re at it and in the middle of it, we have a great time together. Proof is in the pictures. I love watching their eager little wiggle butts excitedly make the incline. They’re the little dogs that can.

Too cool

Having more fun with Doggles. I went ahead and picked up a third pair special for Lily at our local favorite pet boutique: Wise Tails. I don’t know if she’ll be able to still wear them a year from now, but they fit perfectly today and she looks so darn cute in them (I think). All three of them together crack me up. They kind of look like fighter pilots or an Olympic diving team awaiting their final scores. What do you think dachshund friends?!?
