Emily has been doing this new thing as of late. She’ll sit in the kitchen near the treat jar and bark. She won’t bark a lot, but she’ll give a few loud, distinct and authoritative barks to let us know exactly what she wants. She and Lily are trained to bark when they need to go outside at the back door, but she has transferred that fine skill set to expressing her desire for treats – when she thinks it’s time for one. Oh joy, what fun. I think she’s getting a little bossy personally. We’re doing our best to ignore her (when she barks for treats) because we don’t want to reward that behavior, but she’s steadfast in her commitment and will just sit there for a good 15 minutes hoping we’ll give in to her command. It’s a struggle for sure; a challenge of the wills. These photos showcase Emily waiting for her humans to honor her request. To be honest, sometimes I do give in, but she’s so stinking cute that it’s just too hard not to (sometimes). I suspect you all know the feeling (and that face with those big, round, bright, begging eyes) all too well. Enjoy friends.
