As the sun sets on another day and another week, we wish all of our dachshund friends a very happy and good night. Tomorrow is a new day and a new week, and we’re eager to discover what fun adventures it will hold. Stay tuned friends to see what comes our way.

Part of keeping a dachshund healthy and happy is exercising them consistently and properly. It’s a brand new year and time to renew our commitments to physical fitness, and I know of no better motivators than my dachshund pack. Additionally, our dachshund approved hiking trails are gradual inclines with no steep stairs. We believe some stairs are okay, but ramps are better and ideal for our low-riding hounds. Earlier this week our friends at Dodger’s List released a one sheet how-to and video on ramp training. If you missed it please check it out here; it a great resource. One of the best parts of living in Southern California is the warm and sunny days and cool nights. It’s just par for course of living in a desert climate. We love to frolic during the day and enjoy the sun’s rays and at night cuddle by a fire. Proof is in the pictures. Make it a great one doxie friends.

As I promised we’re looking to do more videos in 2014. I’m not a videographer so you’ll have to excuse the camera work until I’m able to get better. At the moment the videos are intended to be short, sweet and a slice of life. Today’s feature is Lily and her ball with a few random guest appearances by Emily and Rufus. Enjoy doxie friends.

Rufus loves to burrow underneath blankets. If I’m sitting in a chair draped in a blanket, Rufus will immediately come over and get underneath. And when I get up to do something, you’re left with the following images. Do they look familiar fellow doxie humans?! To all of our doxie friends experiencing cold weather today, Rufus says stay warm and stay covered in blankets.

As the first weekend in the New Year draws to an end, we want to take a quick moment to give thanks to all of our friends and fans for a wonderful 2013, while we look forward to an exciting, dachshund filled 2014.
In 2013, we added 361 new posts, growing the total archive of this dedicated dachshund photo blog to 734 entries. There were 949 new pictures uploaded. That’s about 3 pictures per day. The most popular original photographs in 2013 were titled “Black and tan beauty” featuring Emily back in June. Folks from 92 different countries visited our blog throughout the year with the most visits coming from the United States; the UK and Canada were not far behind. My favorite part of the year in review is recognizing our FIVE most active commenters. In order, BIG THANKS to Denise B., Jeannie T., Jane K., Virginia P. and Suzanne B. for their contributions throughout the year. We value and appreciate all of our friends and fans and YOUR comments, shares and likes only add value to our work so from the bottom of our doxie loving hearts – thank you!! We continued to do what we do, because you continued to tune in daily.
In 2014 we look forward to doing more video entries as we continue to watch Rufus, Emily and Lily grow and explore the world around them with friends. One more time for good measure, THANK YOU for a fantastic 2013 and with your continued support we eagerly look forward to a phenomenal 2014.
