Emily Sue turns 2

Today our darling doxie Emily Sue is 2. It has been a real treat to watch her blossom from a shy, fat roly-poly of a puppy to a beautiful and more confident full-grown dachshund. I continue to assert that if you devote the first two years of dachshund’s life to training and being there – and I cannot underscore the necessity and importance of simply being there, you will end up with a dachshund perfectly tailored for you and your family. I believe this is true for puppies and also applies to older rescues. Being there to train your dachshund is not something that happens overnight or even after a few months. I believe it takes a good full two years. Emily today is a perfect dachshund for us. She can go off-leash during our hikes; she travels well in the car, in her carrier and is simply perfect for us in every way.
