We are completing our first week sans Milo and although we miss him, it truly warms the heart to see my two doxies – Rufus and Emily, really solidify their bond these last few days. It is very entertaining to watch them chase each other all around the house only stopping to wrestle or play tug-of-war with a toy. Life with dachshunds is good.

Happy Birthday Ralphie

Yesterday our good friend Ralphie turned 5. Ralphie is one of the most handsome black and tans I know, and I always enjoy photographing him. The top photos is definitely one of my personal favorites. He is also among those doxies featured in the book, 102 Dachshunds. Happy Birthday Ralphie. You don’t look a day over 3. May your whole week be a celebration of you. Happy belated birthday Gracie

This past Monday, Dec. 30 was Gracie’s adoption anniversary. As a rescue Gracie came to her humans as a diamond in the rough. I’ve always admired her humans for being able to see pass the tattered exterior, because after a little love and attention Gracie blossomed into a beautiful red smooth dachshund with a gorgeous coat. Gracie, along with her brother Theo, another rescue, are featured in the book 102 Dachshunds. I think it’s pretty grand that these discarded doxies are now thriving in a loving forever home and even featured in a book – forever immortalized. If their previous humans could only see them now. Happy belated birthday Gracie!

This makes our 373rd consecutive post for 2012, and it has been an absolute pleasure to share the love for the dachshund breed with you. Rufus, Emily and all of their friends are humbled and grateful for your visits and comments; thank you. I happily end the year showcasing one cool pack of doxies: Griz, Milo, Rufus, Emily & Wes. Have a safe and fun holiday, and we hope to see you all again next year. Who knows what 2013 will bring, but I can promise it’ll include dachshunds.

Milo’s last day

Today Milo gets on a plane and relocates to Philadelphia. We’ve known Milo since he was a puppy and he has been an honorary member of our pack this last year and a half. We will truly miss our sweet little barking clown, but we’re extremely excited for him and all the new adventures ahead of him. We love you Milo and wish you much happiness in your new home.
