Random precious doxie moments

The top photo is Rufus snuggled in some warm, fresh laundry. He is a freshly-pulled-from-the-dryer laundry magnet. He will literally follow me from the dyer to wherever I put the laundry to fold and roll in it. Rufus is so smart. Out of our trio he is the only one to do this. I say laundry never looked so good.

The bottom photo is Emily and Lily cuddling in the crate. I have a crate that is big enough for all three. I move the crate around as needed. Sometimes it’s covered, sometimes it’s not but regardless it remains a favorite hangout and safe haven for my doxies. They absolutely love their crate and visit it throughout the day and night all on their own. I keep lots of soft blankets inside making it a very inviting place.

Happy Labor Day from my doxie girls: Emily Sue and Lily Blossom. We hadn’t planned on being foster failures but it’s sweet exchanges likes these between the pack that confirm it was absolutely the right the decision for us. Lily gets along so wonderfully well with both Rufus and Emily that it truly warms my heart. Make it a good one doxie friends.

Lily Blossom goes to the beach and she loves it. Summerland’s Lookout Beach provided the perfect setting for my puppy princess to get her paws wet. Make it a doxie-tastic day friends; we are!

Architecture for Dogs

I love that we were able to visit the world-renowned interactive dog-friendly and dog-inspired exhibit Architecture for Dogs twice during its singular US appearance. The exhibit leaves the Long Beach Museum of Art on Sunday (Sept. 1). What I particularly enjoyed about the exhibit was the lawn models out front available for our pooches to try. You could visit the works of art inside, and then test the creations outside with your dog and take pictures as inclined. During Lily’s debut I snapped a few of Rufus trying the D-Tunnel by Kenya Hara and the Beagle House by MVRDV. Emily took a few on her own test try a few months earlier at the opening reception for the exhibit. To see her photos on Facebook click here. This website and our Facebook pages have afforded us the unique opportunity to extend our reach in the dog community, and as a result we have a solid and loyal fan base. We’re naturally grateful for the support and cherish each person that elects to visit us here, likes our photos and comments. Despite any celebrity status we may enjoy, we remain accessible to our community. We absolutely love meeting our avid followers in person after only knowing them online. Last night at Lily’s debut we got to met a few folks who’ve been following us for awhile and it was a complete pleasure.  Among them was Hannah and her human. I snapped a few shots of Hannah – the longhair, 10 year-old doxie that continues to look like a puppy, because her big round eyes are so captivating. I felt like I could get lost in those sugary sweet eyes of hers. Of course, I have to share the pictures with you all.  What do you think about those eyes?!?!  Do they melt your heart?!

Every dachshund needs her debut and this Thursday (tomorrow) at the Long Beach Museum of Art, Lily will have hers. Lily and her complete pack will be attending the Pussy and Pooch sponsored Yappy Hour Ice Cream Social. If you’re in the area please come out and say hi. This is an on-leash event and all are welcome. Our good friends from LuxeMutt will also be in attendance, and we love well-made collar and leash. Come on out if you can. Love to see you.

National Dog Day

According to several online publications it’s National Dog Day.  Dogs rock.  The presence of dachshunds in our lives has enriched it beyond measure, and we couldn’t imagine our lives without one.  Dogs, and for us in particular – dachshunds, are a very special kind of being. For us they’re an ultimate treasure making each day bright and new. Be certain to show your appreciation to your four-legged companion today. If you’re looking for a dog or dachshund, please consider adopting from a rescue organization or local shelter. There are many purebred dachshunds available. Happy National Dog Day!
