Happy Birthday Rufus

Today Rufus turned 10. We’re planning a big birthday bash in Beverly Hills on Sunday, September 7 and if you’re in Southern California you’re invited. However, we wanted to be certain to do something special today so we met a few local friends at one of our favorite beaches for some fun in the sand and surf.

In lieu of any gifts or cards, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the charity Rufus inspired: DOGS. All donation $10 and more will receive a 5×7 postcard in the mail perfect for the refrigerator, bulletin board or frame as our thanks.

Seal goes to the beach

Our darling dachshund friend Seal, the blue smooth dachshund – that was poisoned awhile back, got to go to the beach for the first time last month. His dad put together this cute little video that we just had to share with all of our friends.


One quick fun share: Seal got his names because he looked like a baby seal to this humans when he was born so… it’s only fitting that he finally got to swim in the Pacific Ocean like a real seal.

We’re thrilled Seal and his pack mates are all healthy, happy and enjoying life again. We’re also hoping Seal and his pack will join us again this Sunday for LA Doxies‘ August Monthly Meetup. If you’re in Southern California please try to join us. We’ll be there with our pack.

Many dachshund friends have requested Rufus, Emily and/or Lily‘s mailing address. The most recent flood of inquiries have come as we announced Rufus’ forthcoming birthday bash celebrating a decade of life. So for everyone who asked here it is…

As we continue our countdown to Rufus’ party – which is about 3 weeks and 3 days, we’re thrilled to reveal the theme: CIRCUS.

Yep. We feel like many of our dachshund meetups and parties are a dachshund circus anyhow so why not make it official. We’ll have clown hats for those dachshund attending, and I’m trying to find Rufus a cute ringmaster costume – if anyone has any ideas where I can get one?! Our first choice is ringmaster, followed by clown and third lion. It’s always fun planning another dachshund party.
