I think the dachshund breed is a healthy mix of little angels and little mischievous devils, or at least that has been my experience. I like to call my three dachshunds my little monsters, but not like scary monsters you might find under the bed or in the closet but more like monsters from the animated film of the same name: cute and comical. So naturally when I was out one day a few weeks ago and came across these fun costumes, I had to have them. What do you think?! Halloween has come early for my hounds this year. Today we met some friends at one of our favorite dog-friendly beaches in Southern California for a sunset beach frolic. It was simply brilliant. The crowd was dissipating, the temperature was comfortable and the setting sun proved to be perfect for picture taking. I love those long shadows and defined silhouettes. What do you think dachshund friends?! I really like the images and hope you enjoy them as well.

Even though much of it these days is done electronically via email and Facebook, we still enjoy creating a unique, original party invitation for our events. As the countdown continues for Rufus’ big birthday bash in Beverly Hills, we’re thrilled to debut his personalize party invite. The custom ringmaster costume is courtesy of dear friends at Dachshund Delights. Big thanks to April and Helene for all of your help and support. All the party goers will be supplied with clown hats the day of the event. It promises to be a real circus.

In anticipation of the Labor Day weekend, we headed to the beach today. We expect the beaches will be crowded this weekend as many folks say goodbye to summer so we wanted to get ours in before the masses arrive. It was a lovely day for it. Proof is in the video. Enjoy dachshund friends.

Hello dachshund friends. Today’s daily share is a mixed bag. First, we got some fan mail today from Sammy’s human. Sammy passed earlier this year and true to our tradition here, we pay tribute the beautiful life of Sammy. Sammy’s human was so very appreciative and moved that she sent the above illustrated card – which we loved. Thank you Sammy’s mom. We love hearing from our friends – either online, email or via traditional mail. Don’t be shy!
Second, we’re about 10 days away from Rufus‘ 10th birthday bash in Beverly Hills, and we have secured some pretty rad raffle items. The latest and greatest come from our friends at Wise Tails Pet Boutique which include dachshund themed hand towels, cards and a hat. Other raffle sponsor include Dachshund Riesling, Dachshund Delights, Pet My Wiener, Buddy Belt and Luxe Mutt. We are so grateful for the support and friendship from these like-minded organizations. Happy National Dog Day! The occasion is also known as as national dog appreciation day. We love and cherish our dachshunds. They truly add value to our lives and make each day better. Hug them tight and do something fun together – whether it’s a walk around the block, playing fetch or just some quality time cuddling on the couch. They give us so much and really ask for so little in exchange. Have a great one dachshund friends.

I love it when people know my girls are girls, and in the dog world it’s not always easy to tell at first glance – especially with the smooth coats. I like to help the public when I can, and our new favorite feminine frill is the Hug-a-dog harness dress. The dress offers a little added sass while remaining functional. We have been big fans of the walking harnesses for years now so it’s only natural that we’d love this new incarnation of the fame hug-a-dog harness. What do you think dachshund friends?! I think they’re fun, funny and one more way to express the girls’ personalities while keeping them safe and secure on our walks.
