Running with the big dogs

Yesterday we made it a beach day, one of the many benefits of living in Southern California, and Rufus got to run with the big dogs. Proof is in the pictures. Daily exercise and mental stimulation can come in many shapes and forms. Some days we hike canyons other days we run on the beach. The life of Rufus is a good one.

Joey, the standard

In these parts, miniature dachshunds are generally all the rage and I’m a fan with my two. However, every now and then I meet a beautiful standard and my heart melts like an ice cream cone on a hot day. Joey, the wirehair standard, is one of those big cuddly boys where it’s truly love at first sight. He is like a gentle giant, and I enjoy him every chance I get.

Lucy, one more time

Dachshund Rescue and Placement is still accepting applications for adoption of this adorable 9-week-old wirehair pup we’re affectionately calling Lucy. It is challenging to find the right home for a rescue puppy since it needs lots of attention in these first 30-60 days. An ideal family would have at least one human who works from home or is a stay-home mom or dad. A house and yard are always added incentives. Puppies need tons of devotion to start and rescue organizations are very strict about their forever homes since they truly hope their placements are forever. If you know of a potential good fit, please share. Lucy’s perspective family is missing out on some of the more fun puppy days. I have raised 3 and I can tell you they grow fast so don’t miss another day, submit your application now.

Happy Belated Birthday Laci. This darling doxie celebrated 7 wonderful years yesterday. I believe Laci has really great eyes and ears. She has a very symmetrical head which is fun to photograph. What do you think?
