Hi friends. Are you and your pack ready for another Happy Halloween??? Or, as we like to refer to it in our home, Halloweenie!!! 🙂 Ha!

We love celebrating Halloweenie. We really enjoy seeing all of our friends dressed in their funny and creative costumes. I do think the humans are more entertained than the hounds, but kudos to them for being excellent sports about it. I know we handsomely reward our precious pups with lots of treats for indulging us. Hopefully you do the same.

Here are a few quick tips as you prepare for the forthcoming holiday.

1. If you do plan to dress up your posh pup, do it in advance of their public debut. It’s really important to get them used to their costume before they’re expected to show it off. I find it best to do it in short intervals of time to start, and the more comfortable they get, the longer you can leave them in it. And of course, we strongly recommend when you do dress them up, that you keep an eye on them. Never leave a dapper dog dressed in their costume unsupervised. #SafetyFirst
2. The day of Halloween, when you’re expected to receive lots of trick-or-treaters ringing your doorbell, be certain to take your dachshund(s) for a long walk. A tired dog is a good dog, and I find it best to get them good and tired the day of the Halloween to ensure they’re less annoyed by that constant doorbell ringing.
3. Finally, remember chocolate can be deadly to dogs so keep all of those delicious candies out of reach of our undiscriminating chow hounds. A rush to the vet, will certainly ruin the holiday so be smart.
