Lily has really stolen my heart. She’ll have been with us 2 years this July, and she continues to be a shy and nervous little doxie around people. However, in the privacy of our home, she’s a real love bug. Some dachshunds (and dogs in general) are more affectionate than others. Lily is all about showing her love and fondness for us daily; she loves to drown us in kisses at every opportunity. As a rescue perhaps she really appreciates that we decided keep her, especially since we had no plan to do so in the beginning. Rufus continues to reign king in my heart, but Lily (and Emily) are a very close second. These pups seem to know no bounds when it comes to providing unconditional love to us silly humans. She may be grateful to us for keeping her, but I can say for certain I’m so thankful we did. She makes us happy and our family complete. Keeping her was one of the best unplanned decisions we made as a family. Enjoy dachshund friends.

I just want to say thank you for all of the wonderful pictures that you post of your babies, as well as all of your doxie friends. They definitely lift my spirits whenever I may be feeling down. I have a Lilly (black/tan mommy) and her 3, 1 yr old boys, Raider, Rawley & Rufus 🙂 Raider is my dapple & Rawley & Rufus are my browns 🙂 I only intended to keep one, but as the weeks went by and they were old enough to find new homes, I didn’t have the heart to give them up! They are truly a piece of my heart & soul. I wish I lived closer to you all to be a part of monthly dog park get togethers. Have a blessed day!
Awe. Thank you. It’s our pleasure and privilege.
Our Pearly was also a unplanned adoption that turned out to be the best unplanned decision ever! Just yesterday I said that she is just getting more adorable every day and that 4 years after adopting her. She’s so lovable, play full, clever and funny and now starting to trust other people except for her family she drowns in affection everyday. Lulu, our other red doxie is still my first love, we raised her from the time she was 6 weeks old, she is the diva of the house.
We just love looking at the Rufus-clan on the web on the other side of the world! You guys are beautiful and the best doxie ambassadors ever. Keep those noses shiny (and busy) and keep taking those great pics. Thanks for sharing!
Told you so Johnny!!! 😉 She is precious and adorable ❤
I agree 100%. She was special to both of us and the home had to be perfect. Lily decided where the perfect home was by winning your hearts. It’s wonderful when they really only love and trust you. Thank you for giving her a wonderful loving home. I never worry about a dog in your and Kirkland’s care.
it is hard to believe it has been 2 years!! Time goes by so fast & their time with us is so short.
I know she is forever thanking you for giving her that second chance! You have the perfect family!!
Lovely! My mum has adopted my late Grandmother’s very nervous mini dachsie against all odds! I think they make great companions even if they are wary of strangers. I have been meaning to ask you something about her dog…she really doesn’t like to go for walks and practically needs dragging along 😦 what kind of halter or lead do you think might help? (or training for that matter!)
Keep up the gorgeous photos and little stories 🙂
