Like John Lennon sang in “Beautiful Boy:” Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans. We had plans on how our doxie pack would evolve over time, but sometimes life has a different design. After being with us for 36 days we have made the decision to keep our foster Lily. Yep, I would never have predicted we would be members of the foster failure club, but we are. It naturally wasn’t a rushed or hurried decision, and it was honestly a decision that was made for us by the pack. Both Rufus and Emily enjoy Lily equally, and she assimilated into our household and routine seamlessly. After all this time, I imagine she thinks she’s home and we can’t bring ourselves to tell her different. Lily is home. And then there was three.
*** Correction: in the opening credits of the video below it reads “staring” when it should be “starring.” However, it takes too much effort to re-render the video – at this time, so hopefully my typo won’t lessen your enjoyment of it. Thank you! ***
Congrats on the new family member, Johnny.. it’s not a band thing to be a foster failure. Now one less baby needs a forever family.. so glad that she found it with you and your amazing family! ❤

I am truly happy for all of you. I somehow knew it was to be!
I could see this coming. You both are very lucky. I have 3 Doxies and it works great. She’s a doll and lucky girl.
I asked Ryan if we could foster when we buy a house he said no and this is why. 🙂 I am happy for you though, Lilly looks like she fits in very well.
Congratulations! She’s a beautiful girl – a good fit for your other two!
I cannot express how happy I am for all of you, but probably especially Lily! Thank you Johnny, Rufus, and Emily! I cannot wait for all the future posts about your pack! You just made my day (as usual)! Thank you! Congrats! YAY!
Emily and Lily will keep Rufus young. There’s no way he can allow himself to turn into an old man with those two keeping him so active. Love the picture in the back yard. I’m happy my beautiful Lily found her right home although things didn’t turn out the way we planned. But I guess things turned out the way they were meant to be.
Congrats Johnny! They all compliment each other very well.
Doxie TV. My favorite show!
Three’s a charm, Johnny. Your love doesn’t get divided into thirds….it’s tripled! What a gift that is.
Lennon & McCartney also said “The love you take, is equal to the love you make”.
Yea! (Told ya)
Oh Johnny..I saw this coming too….She fit in so well with Rufus & Emily and 3 is the perfect number for us too!…Ms Lily is gonna give the other two a run for their money!!! She is the luckiest little Foster ever! Congratulations on your new baby girl ..I KNEW she was a keeper ❤ 😉
(Now you need to grow an extra arm…lol)
I THINK IT IS WONDERFUL THAT YOU HAVE ADOPTED LILY TOO !!
LIKE THEY SAY, YOU CAN’T JUST HAVE ONE. I BET RUFUS AND EMILY ARE PLEASED TO HAVE LILY AS A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY.
CONGRATULATIONS !!!!
Congrats on your little girl. Lily is an entertaining and delightful sweet little girl. She is good for not only yourself but also for Rufus and Emily. When do we get an official family photo?
what a lucky little girl to have found this very special family – we never know how our lives will play out but I see that Rufus Emily and now Lily have blessings that cannot be counted. Congrats and yes would love to see their official family photo…you are very special to adopt Lily, God bless
I too am waiting for that Beautiful new Family Photo….<3 Lily is the sweetest little dachshund! Great company for Emily and they BOTH will keep all of those boys on their toes!!!! 😛
Go Lily!!! (you never stood a chance LOL) 😉
3 is a most lucky number!! We have 3 little doxie angels and life couldn’t be better! So happy for you, perhaps I will see you guys on the beach sometime! I just live over Ortega Hill.
I’m happy for you and I’m happy for Lily, but sad for our family….Riley and I really wanted to be her family. It was a hard decision to even fill out the application, but one look at Lily and I knew I had to and Riley was really excited, too. Happiness to you all, keep the photos coming! XOXO
What fantastic news. They make a happy little trio!
Congratulations!! What wonderful news!! I had hoped it might end this way but I know a few people who foster and, with as much as they fell in love with the animal they fostered, they still gave it over to its “forever home”. BUT…occasionally there will be that one that just grabs your heart and you know it was meant to be ❤ Looking forward to watching Lily grow up along side her brother, Rufus, and sister, Emily !!
What wonderful news!!! You would never know Rufus was 9 the way he was playing with Lily. He had no problem keeping up with her! This will keep him young! And agree with the rest of the posts… It was meant to be & there are many of us foster failures out there… Especially when it comes to doxies.
