The birthday floodgates are open. Yesterday was our friend Aly Claire’s birthday. She turned 7, and she is today’s featured pin-up doxie. Happy Birthday Aly Claire. We hope your day and weekend is filled with lots of belly rubs and pampering. Aly is among those selected dachshunds featured in the book for charity 102 Dachshunds.

I love this story. Two years this May, a fellow doxieholic agreed to foster a senior dachshund that had been surrendered to a shelter. She ended up being a foster failure and adding Daisy to her permanent pack. When you rescue a dog, you often get a dog with little information about her past. And although, we may not technically know the pup’s birthday or exact age that just means we get to make it up. Many rescues birthdays are often the day the pup was permanently placed with the forever family or some other significant date that holds a special meaning. Daisy’s parents celebrate her birthday on May 20, because it was the day they first met. Daisy is estimated to be either 17 or 18, and is enjoying her golden years with a loving family and doxie pack. Happy Birthday Daisy and may there be many happy returns.  Daisy is also featured in the book 102 Dachshunds along with her pack mates Bandit and Rusty.
