This weekend (and for the next week) we’re hosting an old friend – Benny, the chocolate smooth. Benny was one of Rufus’ very first friends and although it has been about 2 years since we got some quality time together, the two picked up as though it was just yesterday. What’s even more heartwarming for me is Benny and Emily have become fast friends and so the tradition continues. Make it a Benny day!

OMG! It has been a very busy week for Rufus, Emily and their humans. First, my DSLR camera died. After almost three years and THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of photos it just gave out, but I can’t complain it served me well. Nonetheless, I haven’t been without a digital camera for 10+ years and when it’s not there anymore, you all of sudden feel like you’re missing a limb. Meanwhile this happens while we’re moving, and moving – even with hired help and under the best conditions, is mentally and physically exhausting. I don’t recommend it. After taking a day off – we were completely off the grid for a good 24 hours, we’re back! We have made significant progress on our move and are nearly complete with it, and I got a new camera so the world is slowly returning to normal. But since we’re not a 100% (just yet) I’ve selected this black and white tribute to represent our mood, and we can’t wait for reappearance of color. We have lots of wonderful things to share in the days ahead so stay tuned and Happy June 1st!

Emily is sultry and knows it. I love how Emily (especially her eyes) follow me as I snapped her photos. She’s a ham when she wants to be with always one eye on me watching what I’m doing and where I’m at. Make it a great one friends. Happy Wiener Dog Wednesday!

Yesterday Sammy turned 13. He came to live with his humans 2 and half years ago via Southern California Dachshund Rescue and his family looks forward to many more years together. I have known Sammy for about 2 and half years now, and I think he is one of the youngest acting 13 year-old dachshunds I know. One thing is for certain; Father Time isn’t slowing down Sammy anytime soon. Happy, happy birthday Sammy and many more happy returns. Sammy is featured in the book 102 Dachshunds. He went from discarded trash to one family’s treasure.
