I have previously and publicly said not every photo setup idea I have is a good one. Today’s featured photos are part of my personal archives and considered “outtakes” by my standard, but… they are pretty funny nonetheless. Everyone loves Emily’s toothy grin and I’m right there with you. But I absolutely love Rufus’ expressive eyes. He cracks me up! I always imagine he is saying, “Really!? You think this is a good idea.” What are his eyes saying to you?

How adorable!
Johnny your “outakes” are 500 times better than my “best I could get” photos. How do you get them to pose? to look at you and hold still??? I bet you use food?????
I agree with Virginia!!!
Thanks gals! I’ve been photographing for over 8 years and I’ve photographed over 200 different dachshunds in those years so I have a lot of practice. I do use treats to help keep their focus and get their attention, but the key to getting great photos of a dachshund is PATIENCE! I have often told folks it’s like going on safari. You’re there waiting for that perfect opportunity and when it comes, you shoot! I can rush a photo shoot and get some decent photos, but the best ones come when I’m patience. Levity also helps. Having fun, laughing and smiling are also great contributors to a good photo shoot. Every dog and dachshund is different, but establishing a relationship and trust with your subject is key – for all living subjects, dogs and people. Thanks for enjoying the photos as much as I do. I love sharing them and I consider them my art. 🙂
Thanks for the tips! Patience….:-/ NOT MY middle name…LOL
