Meet Max the soft-coat wirehair dapple dachshund of Sherman Oaks. At times Max can seem grumpy or aloof, especially in public at dog parks, but in the privacy of my home he was pleasant, well mannered and even loveable. He reminded me of one of the characters from Grumpy Old Men, the movie, with a hard exterior but really a big softy underneath the facade of it all. Max was 10 at the time of the photos.

Milo was recently selected to be part of the upcoming feature film Wiener Dog Nationals, and we couldn’t be happier for him and the producers. Unfortunately for us, Milo has to spend the next five weeks with his trainers and handlers preparing for his big screen debut. We are beyond thrilled for Milo and this unique opportunity and journey ahead of him, but we’ll miss him terribly. As a congratulation / break-a-leg present we bought Milo a new green leather collar from our friends at Maxwell Dog so he can travel on set in style. Does he look like a star?

Yesterday was Emily’s 7th month anniversary of life along with her sister Myfanwy and of course we have to mention the milestone. Additionally, June is filled with many birthdays and this post is dedicated to them all. To name just a few, we want to wish a very Happy Birthday to our friends Michael, Martin, Evan, Hardy, Robyn and everyone celebrating a June birthday. There seems to be a lot of them, including me. My birthday is later this week, but we’re celebrating today with a laser tag fundraiser event for our new charity Dachshund Outreach Giving and Socialization. Join us if you’re local.

Yesterday was a milestone for us; it was a record breaking day. Daily we receive fun reports on how many views we get to the site and by what country. Generally, the US is atop of the leader board with the most hits with countries like the UK and Australia often coming in second. However, to our surprise Poland outdid them all yesterday, more than doubling the number of visits from the US. I can’t explain the sudden surge, but we are humbled and grateful for the love and support. Today’s post is dedicated to all of our new friends in Poland. Thank you!

Today we celebrate Emily Sue. I like the top picture because Emily looks like a perfect statuette sitting on a mantel. In the bottom one she is a little more ominous and serious with her fixed gaze, but still completely adorable to me. Happy Friday.

As a dad of a dachshund it’s truly a task to find a dog toy that isn’t torn into pieces in minutes. However, as I continue to search for something that Rufus won’t destroy in record time, I am optimistic by a new find: these inexpensive rubber chickens. Rufus seems to be obsessed with them, and I’m thrilled that they still squeak and are intact. It has been nearly a week now.
