Don’t go chasing waterfalls! Please, stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to. 🙂 #TLC #Waterfalls

Rufus’ farewell tour continues. Tuesday, May 28th, we visited Solstice Canyon Trail in Malibu (lovely) and then this Monday, June 3rd, we hiked Sycamore Canyon Falls in Westlake Village. These waterfalls we visit range from a trickle and a puddle to something grander, but regardless, we enjoy the adventure and making memories together. ❤ ❤ ❤
For the Malibu hike we only took Rufus, and for the Westlake trek, we took the whole pack. And although it was an overall gay time at both venues, the latter proved a little more difficult for all of us.
Quick disclaimer: My darling dogs and I have been hiking regularly since they were puppies. We can comfortably complete 3.5+ miles (roundtrip) in an hour with energy to spare. Or at least that was the case when we first started years ago. Today we’re a little slower and a little older. Ha! 🙂
For example, on the Sycamore trail head, we encountered a rattle snake that just finished eating a little lizard. We all – hounds and humans alike, had to patiently wait for him to complete his meal and then we gently nudged him off to the side of the path with our tripod. 🙂 That’s how our hike started.
For whatever reason, Rufus and Lily, despite my protest, kept eating the dirt near the waterfall, apparently it tasted great! Until we got home, and that’s when Lily vomited all that dirt and her dinner. #NeverBoringwithDachshunds Also, when we got home, I realized sweet Emily Sue had raw paws from our hike. Boo. It was heartbreaking. I felt I let her down, but thankfully by Thursday she was healing nicely and walking normally again. ❤ #NoDullMomentswithDachshunds
I may have one dachshund writing his final chapter, but I still have two other precious pups in their prime. Needless to say, I’m keeping busy friends – physically and mentally. 🙂
Good news. We have survived another two weeks. And, that’s all we can do, right?! Take it a day and a week at time. ❤
For all those asking, Rufus is good. He is holding strong. He sleeps a lot. He spends a lot of time in his crate because he likes it there, and he naps long and hard on the master bed curled up on faux fur (at his choosing). ❤ Lily even joins him sometimes for his midday naps. ❤ #PreciousPups #Sweetness
Okay friends. Thanks for reading. That’s the latest and greatest. Enjoy the photos, have a wienerful weekend. ❤

So glad you are able to include Rufus on your outings & he is still able to hike & do the things he loves. So glad he is still feeling well. Enjoy every moment with your precious boy.
