In the last 30+ days we have had to say goodbye to some darling dachshund friends. In all three cases it was fast and unexpected, and our heart aches for the surviving families. The only negative I can ever think of when loving a dog, is that they don’t ever live long enough; no matter if it’s 10 years or 20, it’s simply never enough time together.
The first to go was our beautiful longhair friend Preston on December 2, 2015. Second was the wise and funny looking wirehair Joey on December 30, 2015. And today on January 7, 2016, we lost our sassy and sweet smooth haired friend Bella.
We’re grateful to have called them friends and they’ll live on forever in our hearts, minds and photos. Peace be with the families, and remember to enjoy each day you have together because tomorrow is promised to no one.
Rufus and his pack got some extra cuddle time this morning as we processed Bella’s recent passing and remembered Preston and Joey. Love them madly while you got you them; we do!
I am so glad, after a lot of convincing, I was able to talk Sonja into letting you photograph Joey. He was so special and the perfect standard wire hair. The first thing I did when she told me he was gone was pick up the book of Dachshunds and look at Joeys picture. I’m so glad I have his picture to remember him.
Oh that’s terrible! 2 dogs in a month 😦 *hugs from another dog lover on the internet*
How can anyone not fall in love with a Dachshund? 😔😉. I have had three male miniature Doxies, who have all crossed Rainbow Bridge, unfortunately, but I now have, the most beautiful, intelligent miniature “red” Doxie, who is actually golden blonde just like a Golden Lab, little girl Doxie who thinks she’s the cat’s meow! I loved and spoiled all my male dogs and it still hurts to talk about them. One was adopted from a nice home, but at the age of 6.5 years old, he had no idea of what to do with a ball or any toy. There were several health and lots of dental issues that were quickly seen to and I had him neutered, at which point in his life, at 6.5 years old, the vet had to make, a not too common decision! Was BJ to remain a male dog or should he be changed sex wise, to a girl?
BJ was unique, he had an ovary plus testicles, which he had since birth! Needless to say, rather than put him through more medical and lots of dental work, we decided to leave things as HE, was used to being. He was an adorable pet, after the house training, showering him with and showing him love and giving him lots of attention and how to play! The only things he was use to were walks and car drives— preferably short ones and he enjoyed the beach! R.I.P. my adorable BJ!
All your dogs are beautiful and I enjoy reading about the different things they do and like, as well as, their clothing! Keep us updated, please! Happy New Year, to you all!🎄🎄🎄👌👌
Yes we lost our beloved Peanut, prematurely 1-5-15 . It was a horrible accident, he was with us one moment and gone the next. We had this loving friend for 15 years. I still werp for his passing.
My condolences to the families and friends of Preston, Joey and Bella, there are no words to describe the loss of our faithful companions (I’m still grieving for my Brandy who left us on June 27th). Our fur babies leave their paw prints on our hearts. I hope time will help ease the pain for the families/friends of Preston, Joey and Bella and that they will be remember only the happy times shared together. Blessings…Joy
my heart breaks to hear this. You are so right, they do not live nearly long enough. 20 years would not be long enough for me. There are no words that can ease the pain or fill the huge loss, but it is true that in time, thoughts of our babies will bring a smile instead of tears. It’s just getting to that point. My condolences to the families & loved ones of Preston, Joey & Bella.
So very sorry for the loss of all those whom these precious family members touched. Peanut and Jean
My condolences to the owners of Preston, Joey and Bella. I know you are heart broken and feel your pain. They have undoubtedly left large paw prints 🐾 in your heart and memories. They will live on though all the joyful memories, and over time will bring you comfort and joy. They are in the Lords care and protection now. 💖
