Doxies in cars

I think dogs in general like going for rides in cars, and I also think some doxies (especially those that don’t suffer from car sickness) really enjoy seeing the world for an elevated perspective. Dachshunds are smart dogs with strong noses and a drive about town with the window opened or cracked seems to really stimulate their senses. I know Rufus and Emily jump at the opportunity to go for a ride with dad, and I’m always happy to have them along.

You are so blessed with these well behaved doxies! Ours go crazy everywhere they go! Our Schnitzel almost destroyed the whole back seat of our new car just going to get his nails trimmed! They go beserk if they see a UPS Truck or mail truck drive by..I am just amazed at the good behavior of so many doxies on your Web site! We just don’t have the funds for professional trainers to work with them…:-(

    • Thanks Virginia, but it took a lot of training and practice to get my doxies to be perfect for me. You have to work at it. I have hired trainers before and they’re great, but they really trained ME how to be consistent with my doxies – and that’s key. Good luck and a doxie is never too old to learn new tricks. 🙂
