Easter Bunny or dachshund

One of my favorite photo shoots from last year was our Easter one. I liked the final product – the pictures, but I also had such a good time with it. Easter is one week away so in preparation I pulled out my Easter props and found Rufus and Emily’s rabbit ears. My doxies are such wonderful sports! They’re so gracious about letting me put them in clothes, hats and even rabbit ears. I burst into laughter each time I put the ears on them and smile big. I can’t decide if they look more like Bugs Bunny or Steve Martin. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them.

RIP Rudy & Emmett

This has been a tough week for our dachshund community. We said goodbye to two friends: Emmett and Rudy. We have previously featured Emmett, but to my surprise we have yet to showcase our dear friend Rudy. Rudy was a survivor of two back surgeries and was last seen by many at our February LA Doxies Meetup. Rudy was 18. Emmett was 14. My heart aches for the families, but today we celebrate their long lives and friendship. Luckily, we have our plentiful memories and pictures to carry us forward. Peace be with the families of Rudy and Emmett.

20,000 Likes

Early on Wednesday morning, while Rufus, Emily and I were still asleep, we reached a milestone: 20,000 likes on DOGS’ Facebook Page. The page was published in late June 2012. I’m humbled and grateful for the support surrounding the page and its content these last 10 months. If you’re not already a fan and friend, be certain to like us. SoCal Doxie available for adoption

Yesterday afternoon I got to meet Rocky, the handsome tubby tweenie dapple dachshund with a distinctive looking coat. He is searching for his loving, forever family. He is estimated to be about 5 years old. Besides being a few pounds overweight the darling dachshund seemed sweet, well mannered and socialized – at least for the hour we hung out together. Rufus is eight going on nine, and with age I believe he has only become more distinguished in appearance. In my mind Rufus looks like noble statesman of the dachshund community. What do you think!?

Emily’s beauty

I think Emily is an unabashed beauty. She is shy and squirmy at times, but when she takes a minute to be still with her head held high, I think she simply a beautiful and sweet creature. Be still, my beating heart. What do you think?!
