My smooth black and tan doxie, Emily Sue, is a so darn precious. She is completely nuts and certifiable, but she make me laugh daily and I can never stay mad at her for longer than a few seconds. I raised my red smooth boy Rufus with a good balance of rules, discipline and fun, but with my little delicate flower Emily, it just seems harder (or I’ve gotten lazier) to be firm with her. We’ve been recently working on our commands with Emily and it’s pure comedy. I’ll keep y’all posted on how it goes, but in meantime enjoy her heart-melting smile and captivating eyes.

Wilbur

Do you know what it’s like to only know someone through pictures?! Smirk. Well, I’ve known Wilbur for many years, but yesterday was the first time we actually met in person. Wilbur was among a batch of rescues that included Leo, and I have always stayed current to his adventures and now we’re neighbors. It’s a small and wonderful doxie world. It’s with my pleasure that Wilbur makes his debut. With a little luck, perhaps he’ll become a regular on our site. What do you think of the wirehair?!

I’d rather

Sometimes my dachshund art is straightforward and sometimes it’s abstract and open to varied interpretations. Sometimes it’s high concept and other times it’s simple and to the point. Today it’s the latter. Dachshunds sleeping. It seems overly simplistic but at the same time, to so many of us dachshund guardians, it’s truly majestic to witness a dachshund peacefully sleeping. It’s one of those rare moments in the day when many of us pause and think to ourselves, I wish that was me. As we usher in Monday and the start of another workweek, I’m certain many of us today wish we were a dachshund peacefully sleeping. Make it a good one friends.

Our charity Dachshund Outreach Giving and Socialization (DOGS) turns 1 this June. To celebrate the occasion we’re hosting a fun on-line raffle filled with some very doxie-centric items. Emily’s dirty sunbathing

I’ve written about it before and I’m doing it again today. Not only does Emily enjoy sunbathing – like so many dachshunds do, but she loves to roll in the dirt and dust. Perhaps it’s not as apparent on my red boy, but against that shiny black and tan coat, the earth and filth just pops. As long as she is having fun, I’ll continue to wipe her off and clean her appropriately and mute my frustration. How about yours!? Does your dachshund insist on bringing in as much of the yard as possible like Emily?!

Happy belated birthdays

Rufus and Emily want to wish their friends Bailey and Sadie a very happy belated birthday. Bailey the piebald turned 8 on Sunday, May 26; and Sadie the longhair dapple turned 7 on Friday, May 31. Better late than never. Hope it was a great day for you both.
