Benny, the smooth chocolate dachshund, was Rufus’ very first play mate and remains one of his closest friends today. Rufus and Benny were among my first dachshunds to photograph.

Rufus loves to bask in the sun daily. Vitamin D does the doxie good, is our motto around these parts.

Living in Southern California our winters are pretty mild, but on occasion Rufus needs a little extra warmth. When clothing shopping for a low-riding doxie, I often look for something that is wash and wear, covers his underbelly to keep him dry and clean, and has no or short sleeves. One of my best friends got Milo, a smooth red dapple dachshund, this past July. While Marc typically works long hours, I happily watch and care for Milo. At under a year of age, Milo is a real clown and keeps both Rufus and I laughing most days.

Rufus stole my heart 7 years ago as a 10-week old pup and my life has never been the same. As my first dog as an adult, Rufus has taught me so much about being patient, unconditional love, the importance of proper socialization and regular exercise.
From an early age, Rufus and I have been hosting play dates with other doxies at our home. Watching Rufus play with his brethren warms my heart and I’ve been photographing these play dates since the very first one.
Rufus and his friends regularly keep me entertained, and I’m happy to share the photos.
