Lost doxies

As much as we hate to think of it, our doxies can and do get out. This past holiday weekend we got news that one of our friend’s doxies was lost. It was a stomach torturing few hours, but this story has a happy ending: the doxie and family were happily and safely reunited. However, it’s a good opportunity to review a few tips and practices that could significantly increase the chance of a safe return every time. To read more click here.

Rescue doxie alert Myles

I met Myles on a sunny Friday afternoon. The poor doxie was basically left for dead, after being hit by a car he was surrendered to a shelter for whatever might come. Luckily the dachshund community rallied together to spring the little tattered low rider and offered him hope of a future. He is a little beaten up and bruised from his traumas, but his personality is mellow and sweet. Anyone interested in giving this little man his second chance in life should complete an application online with Dachshund Rescue & Placement. Bailey & Onslow

Before there was Rufus and Emily, there was Bailey and Onslow another wonderful red and black and tan pairing. Bailey is actually a red dapple as evidence by her mismatched eyes and Onslow’s senior by 6 years. They were a comical duo to photograph, and in the year since they were in front of my camera they adopted Emily’s sister – Myfawnwy. I look forward to photographing the whole brood in the near future.

Rescue doxies alert

This week’s featured rescue doxies are a bonded pair surrendered by an elderly woman who recently transition to a retirement home. These longhair females are sweet and friendly. Committed to posting once a day for the entire year of 2012, we celebrate the unique natural beauty of the loyal dachshund every day here at Rufus on the Web. Today is our 100th post and the coveted spot goes to the doxie who started it all for me – the majestic and beautiful Rufus.
