I think doxies are like snowflakes, no two are identical. Roscoe, the red smooth dachshund, was a real treat to photograph last May. He was very outgoing and comfortable in front of the camera and lights. Like Bertie, I really enjoy his expressive ears. What do you think?

Triple digit heat

Wow, triple digit heat hits Southern California. Keeping cool can be challenging but not for Ms. Emily Sue. Unlike Rufus who shows little interest in the kiddie pool, Emily loves it! She can’t really swim in it, but I believe she finds it very refreshing. She’ll happily soak in it for several minutes at a time and then get out and run around the yard like a crazy doxie. She then sunbaths herself dry before coming inside to the comfort of air condition. She even enjoys the water mister during her soak. Stay cool doxie friends!

Labor Day is 3 weeks from today, at which point the corporate American summer season will be officially at an end. This is your reminder to enjoy it, and to share these last weeks of it with your dachshund. Get out to the beach, visit the dog park, hike a canyon or do whatever summer activity makes you smile and allows your doxie to be included. It’s their summer also. Get out and have some fun together.
