Happy dachshunds

I truly believe my dachshunds are happiest when they’re being active with me. Emily will sometimes be reluctant to leave the house – the two reds are always eager and willing; I believe Emily is a real home body but once we’re out and about they all seem to enjoy it. More importantly, I always notice a difference at home after our hikes. They always seem so content resting in their beds and a lot more calm post hikes – whereas on the days we don’t get to hike, they seem like they have pent up energy dying to get used. Socialization for us means exposing our dachshunds to a variety of people, places and things – and our hikes are a great outlet to do so. We exercise our bodies and minds on the hikes and although the trail is the same each time, it’s not really the same because they’re often new people, new dogs and fresh smells. Share your socialization adventures with us on our Facebook page.

They look like they are enjoying themselves on their hikes. They are so beautiful. I bet they are tired and happy when they get back home. Give them all a hug and a kiss from me. Love them all.

If mine don’t get their walk for even one day ( I rarely miss a day even in bad weather) you can tell, they are not as content & have pent up energy. Their walks are also just as important for socialization as they are for exercise!!
