It is with great sadness that we must inform our friends and fans that we lost another member of our community last night. Bocce, the petite red piebald, was humanely euthanized last night to end her suffering from canine Lymphangiectasia. I first met Bocce at the dog beach, and that’s where we saw her most often over the years. She truly seemed happy at the beach with her ball. Bocce was relatively young and taken too soon. The only comfort is her pain has come to an end. She leaves behind a pack mate, Bella, and her humans. Our hearts aches for them all today.
If any fan, friend or fellow-doxie human wants to make a tax-deductible donation in Bocce’s name a personalize condolence postagram will be mailed to her family.
We continue to offer this service because of the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received. It has been very touching to the grieving families to know they’re not alone. I have also heard that many families are moved by the show of support from strangers across the country. To which I remind them, when you love a dachshund we’re not strangers to one another but simply friends yet to meet. Other dachshund humans truly understand the loss of a loyal protector and short-legged constant companion. I think we know the hurt better than most because our dachshunds are not just dogs or pets, but family.
These postagrams are great keepsake and better than flowers or a casserole (I assert). When our doxies pass, all we have are our memories and pictures. With your help Bocce’s family can have a few more pictures of Bocce playing on the beach during happier times. My only request, in order to make it cost efficient for the charity, please ensure your donation is $10 or more. Thank you. May Bocce rest in peace. Also peace be with Bocce’s humans and Bella.
RIP Bocce
God is watching over Bocce now. He will take care of this beautiful baby…. RIP bocce….
RIP little 4 legged baby. I’m so sorry for your loss. I do believe we will be with them again.
My heart goes out to Bocce’s family, I can feel their pain & am so sorry they are going thru this. I had never heard of this condition, is it rare, is it more common in doxies? As if it wasn’t bad enough that we have to be on constant alert regarding their backs. BUT doxies are the best & despite the constant worry about their backs, there is no way I could ever be without them!!
Thank you all. The condition is rather rare, they don’t even know if it is genetic or not. It’s normally found in yorkie terriers or just terriers in general I have yet to find a case of it happening to another doxie.
Our deepest condolences. What a beautiful girl. She will be there waiting for you at the Bridge. My heart goes out to your family and to the doxie community that loved and knew her well ❤
♡♡♥♥ My thoughts and prayers are with you all, Diana.
RIP BEAUTIFUL BOCCE ♥ ♥ ♥
HUGE THANKS to all for their outpour of support, empathy, sympathy and love. I know it seems superficial – comments on social media site, postagrams in the mail or a kind word in a message, but… as a person who has “loss,” I can attest personally that it HELPED me! When we’re emotionally raw and vulnerable during that time of mourning – for me – it helped to know people were thinking of me because those moments in life can feel so lonely. Thank you!
My condolences Diana. May special memories together help ease the pain at this difficult time. RIP beautiful Bocce. xo Joy
“Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you’d ever say goodbye
And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance, I could have missed the pain
But I’d of had to miss the dance”….Garth Brooks
