Dachshund (from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). The dachshund is a short-legged, long-bodied dog breed of dog belonging to the hound family. The standard size dachshund was bred to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature dachshund was developed to hunt smaller prey such as rabbits.
Neighborhood rabbits be warned; Rufus means business. He is no Elmer Fudd.
What a great shot with Rufus and the bunny! You must have that camera around your neck 24/7. You catch all the great shots. That’s a prize winner.
Run rabbit run very cute
what a great shot!! My Dori is fascinated with bunnies. I do have to report that she has caught & killed one..very sad for this human to witness, but she was just doing what is instinct so you cannot get mad at her. She is one doxie with a very strong hunting instinct.
Rufus has caught and killed at least one bird and squirrel. I considered “training” it out of him, but realized why remove what he was bred to do?! I don’t advocate the senseless killing of animals, but… if one is foolish enough to enter our backyard well… one must do it at its own risk. 🙂 They’re great little hunters, and let’s hope the word is out in the neighborhood and the rabbits stay clear of our backyard for their safety. 🙂
