We have two red smooth males looking for a temporary foster home or forever family.  They are not a bonded pair, though they did seem to get along nicely together at the dog park.  I believe they were both owner surrenders and are currently called Whisky and George.  For more information or to meet them, please call 310 857-0086 or email: dachshundrescueoflosangeles@gmail.com.  You can also message Dachshund Rescue of Los Angeles on Facebook.  Please share.

FOSTER OR ADOPT IN Los Angeles?

Cuddly 7 yr old, George, healthy, affectionate, and happy, is a bit of an attention hog…if his person sits down, he is ON that lap likety-split staring lovingly into your eyes. Clean gorgeous teeth, must be good genetics because they’ve never been cleaned according to the former owner, who I saw dropping off George along with a pack of other dogs at Baldwin Park shelter. Perfectly housebroken at his current foster home, where he has a dog door to get outside. His foster loves and admires him but now isn’t able to keep him any longer due to landlord issues. (One therapy dog is ok, his own. two isn’t. ) He gets along great with the boy dog in his current home and the boy dogs from his original home. He doesn’t like a larger, young boy we once met with attitude, and barked to express his dislike. He likes people who give him a chance to come to them first. Esp. if they are holding dog cookies. Or smell like bacon. 🙂

He would be suitable for a less active household because he’s satisfied with a good walk around the block. He loves being outdoors and smiles with his ears flowing in the wind at the park.

He could be at home during the work day esp if he had another dog for companionship and he got attention and outings at other time. Of course, retirees, truck drivers, and at home adopters are always desirable candidates for doxies. Essential is a Doxie saavy home that knows about weight control, exercise, avoiding stairs and jumping, and the doxy personality.
