As a dad of a dachshund it’s truly a task to find a dog toy that isn’t torn into pieces in minutes. However, as I continue to search for something that Rufus won’t destroy in record time, I am optimistic by a new find: these inexpensive rubber chickens. Rufus seems to be obsessed with them, and I’m thrilled that they still squeak and are intact. It has been nearly a week now.

Where did you find them I have same problem with Jacob and Lacey.
These inexpensive rubber chickens were found at Target. I wasn’t even looking for anything at the time. They’re coated with some sort of oil, which I don’t particularly like – but a little soapy water and it should be fine. As Michaela shared, all doxies are different so what works for Rufus may or may not work for yours, but… nothing ventured nothing gained. Good luck! 🙂
My late doxie Susi (1) always destroyed the hard plastic squeakies within minutes, the ones made of soft plastic remained intact for month. Susi (2) is totally different. She takes good care of all of her toys, she hasn’t destroyed even one! She prefers those made of plush. Sometimes I think she sees them as a kind of musical instrument, squeaking different rhythms and liking it clean afterwards. ;-D She seems to have a special fable for the Mad Men Theme, she ALWAYS starts squeaking when she hears that.
What a cute story. Like people, there are all kinds of doxies and your two Susis cleary demonstrate that. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
