The marvelous Milo

Approaching 11 months, Milo continues to entertain. Most notably he is an excellent “danny.” If a woman employed to care for a child in its own home is a nanny and a male affectionately called a manny, Milo is a dedicated danny – a doxie nanny. He is absolutely wonderful with our 11-week old pup Emily.

February is filled with birthdays and today is Babe’s. The handsome smooth red dachshund is turning 2. Babe was part of a litter surrendered to a rescue at 8 weeks and has grown into a fine dachshund, I think. If his previous humans could only see him now.

My Rufus, the regal red smooth miniature dachshund, reminds me of a stately gentleman in temperament and stance. From a little 10-week clumsy pup, I have watched him mature to a handsome and confident dachshund complete with distinguishing gray accents.

Hug-a-dog harness PSA

This past week a friend’s dachshund got out her collar while on a neighborhood walk and was bitten by another dog. Luckily the doxie was not seriously hurt, but it’s a great reminder that while on walks or hikes, that we really should protect our darling doxies with a well fitted harness. Rufus recommends and approves the Dachshund Delights’ hug-a-dog harness.

Our friend just had a litter of puppies. Grand Champion Winfall Social Butterfly “Sophie” gave birth to 6 healthy puppies on January 4, 2012. Sired by another miniature wirehair champion named Clark, the puppies are already champions of cuteness in my book.

You’ve seen pictures of Rufus.  You have seen pictures of Emily.  Now you are seeing pictures of Rufus and Emily. This is their photo debut of the two together. They really do melt my heart. The top photo embodies their current relationship. Emily looks to Rufus for guidance and protection. When Milo gets too rough with play, it’s Rufus who comes and settles him down. When outside exploring, Emily often follows Rufus’ lead. Rufus is blossoming into an wonderfully supportive big brother.
