Trying to return to the Christmas spirit, we’re showcasing Emily and Rufus. Emily wearing her Santa suit, and Rufus looking dapper in his festive holiday tie. Only eight wonderful days until Christmas and counting. Are you and yours ready for it?!

Our hearts are heavy. Our prayers and thoughts are with the families of Newtown, Connecticut.
I love Christmas sweaters. From the tacky to the classic styles, I love putting my doxies in festive Christmas sweaters this time of year. How about you?
The Christmas countdown has begun and we’re only 11 days away. I really love this time of year, especially the fun and festive spirit the holiday evokes. Make it a merry one folks.
Tis the season to rescue and there is much need for it. Today we’re featuring four beautiful dachshunds in need of their forever home for the holidays. All they’re wishing for this Christmas is a loving and warm family to call their own. Interested persons can complete an online application via the Dachshund Rescue and Placement or contact Tamara Pitman directly at (310) 857-0086 or via email at tamarapitman@gmail.com. Please share. Let’s make it a merry one for these adorable doxies.
Meet Woody, the dapple black and tan miniature dachshund. Woody is one of the many doxies featured in the book 102 Dachshunds. Woody is a rescue and a real sweetheart. What do you think? I love his big hound dog floppy ears.
The book has arrived in Los Angeles and ships out today to all those who already reserved their copy. There is only 14 days until Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations have already begun. Nonetheless there is still time to get or give a copy of the book for charity. For a premium tax deductible donation of $135 (which includes 2-day UPS shipping), the book is our gift to you for the generous support. The book is our 501c3’s primary fundraiser for our 2013 operations budget. We’re planning to do some really great dachshund outreach, giving and socialization events, but none of it can come to fruition without your support. To make a donation and get your copy shipped this week click here. The book is a passion project in which I donated all my labor and talent for free. All profits will be returned to the community; no money raised is used for salaries or personal advancement.

This afternoon we celebrated our 7th Annual LA Doxies Holiday Party. We had about 60 people and 70 dachshunds in attendance at my private home in North Hollywood. Big thanks to our photographer Sandra McCurdy. Happy holidays friends.

More of Maggie and Rufus from yesterday.
Okay, not every idea I had in the last 8 years of photographing dachshunds has been a good one. Why I ever decided to put Rufus and his friend Maggie in a basket and photograph it is honestly beyond me. Perhaps I liked the pattern and contrast it created, but truly this is one of those photo shoots where I ask myself, “What was I thinking!?” Nonetheless, I figured I would share the questionable along with the good. I mean, can a dachshund really ever take a bad photo???
